The right necklace

Have you been in the situation where you have your outfit ready to go out and then you think –‘ what jewellery should I wear?’ You search high and low and try on short necklaces, long ones, beaded, silver and nothing works. What do you do?  Well,  if you’re like me I used to give up and just go without.  Put on pair of earrings and a nice watch and out the door.  But what if you had a bit of info to help you to choose the right necklace that works with the myriad of necklines out there, well, one less moment of stress for you.

Look at the following necklines –

The scoop neckline which is popular during the spring/summer months almost commands that you wear a big statement piece of jewellery.  So fill up your décolletage with chunky jewellery or layers of beads.

If you’re wearing a strapless top, a choker style necklace is best suited; or even a small pendant. This is one neckline where you want to show off your tan so keep it minimal.

If you’re wearing a crew or round neck top, then choose a collar necklace.  Notice that the necklace is layered and sits above the neckline; this complements the top.  However, if you’re not comfortable wearing this type of necklace, a longer one which sits below the bustline is flattering as well because is lengthens the neckline.

The V-neckline is always tricky but if you think about wearing a V-shaped pendant, you will see harmony in your outfit.  I know you’re thinking – where do I get a V-shaped pendant?  If you don’t have one, you can wear another shape providing it is a single focal bead.
